I wouldn't let Disney anywhere near my kids
From Frozen!
How did you covert the volume and wha pedals into regular pedals?
Nope I don't have a clue as to what that is.
I don’t recognize the quote, but I do the same thing (not necessarily Disney).
Thanks. Great instructions (and playing). Exactly the information I needed. I'm new to HX Stomp but loving it so far. I couldn't find a way to do the same thing via HX Edit. Is that accurate? God bless.
Your awesome!!!!!!!
Thanks man! I’m just a big gear nerd…
I like the size of the HX stomp but the extra buttons and extra 4th snapshot in the HX Stomp XL were my deciding factor. It allowed me to no longer need a midi controller for my current setup (although you do have less functionality without an external midi box like the MorningStar IO / PirateMIDI units). Great tones in the video! Definitely a fan of Junior's work with the JET Pedals as well!
Thank you! Great to hear you’re acquiring gear to suit your needs (instead of buying a solution to find a problem, which is what some people do when they buy the top of the line controllers and realise they don’t need them).
Very nice! Detail question for you...are your guitar tone and volume on 10 when you create these, or are you dialed back a little? (Just looking for tonal context)
It was all on 10 for this demo, but when I’m not on a time crunch I’ll roll back the volume to see what kind of granular volume control and its effect on the amp sounds are.
Thank you !!
You're welcome! I'm glad it was helpful.
Sounds nice with that melody. 😁 Personally speaking, I play Bethel’s riffs that go with the song’s melody.
That's a great approach, to make sure the melodies don't compete against one another!
Thank you so much ! So clear with tabs, what software do you use to integrate them with video, highlighting on time ?
You're welcome! I'm using Tux Guitar, which is a free tab software. I screencap the tab playing and then sync it to the video (making sure I play what I tab!)
Ambient Guitar + Soft/Pop Rock = Worship Guitar Secular Bands that the Christian bands modeled their style after may include but not limited to PINK FLOYD, Coldplay, U2, the killers, Muse, Green Day, the Fray, Lighthouse, marron 5, Imagine dragons, etc ... So basically worship guitar is not a genre as you mentioned, but the type of mixing and sound production that has been happening in the church space has created a little niche. It does not require much skills, but it does require a great amount of restraint and discipline so that one doesn't come across as "showing off". That's frowned upon because it might look like you're outshining the rest of your bandmates. One way to achieve the "Worship Guitar" tone. Is by using overdrives, delays, and most importantly REVERB. When that's paired with Great sounding pad sounds and fat snare drums, you get Worship Music. Christian Bands may include but not limited to, Hillsong United, Elevation Worship, Citipointe, The Belonging CO, Bethel Music, etc... I hope this helped anyone who's taken the time to read this.
I took the time to read it, thanks for the input! I would have said that “worship guitar” is a style and “worship music” is a genre (applying the layperson’s conflating that “worship” is a style and a genre, which I disagree with but it’s convenient shorthand). If I misspoke during the video, I’m sorry for the confusion.
Is it true that Jeebus only endorses Vox?
He endorses everything including triple rectifiers 🎸 but in all seriousness the Vox thing is more to cut through the mix with clarity. It could be any amp as long as the guitarist knows how to EQ properly. Vox amps just come out of the gate with that sound pre-dialed.
Mixolidian (spelling) but it’s a life saver.
I love mixolydian! That b7 makes it sound like I should be playing with sunglasses on for the cool vibes
@@AllAboutWorshipGuitar one trick I’ve learned is mixing minor pen and mixolydian style hammer ones and pull offs. Plus it’s a great place to start for simple evocative lead lines.
I really wish that you could be my teacher💪🏻
Aw thanks for the vote of confidence. I wish I could teach well too!
@@AllAboutWorshipGuitar you truly do teach well but you inspire alot too and alot of people needs both. Thank you for that👍💪🏻

@@AllAboutWorshipGuitar You have a point!
I loved the Nigel reference! That took me back a few years! Well done!
Haha, when he finally said how much the black Duo Jet was...yes, I hated him. "God bless eBay" indeed!
I have an silver hx stomp xl that I love, would love to build my own pedal board one day using it🤩
Silver! That’s a really cool colour, I wish Yamaha had given me a choice!
@@AllAboutWorshipGuitar apparently from what I hear the sliver is limited edition and exclusive to Europe
@@AllAboutWorshipGuitar I just so happened to pickup the last box at guitar center, opened it and it surprised me
Can’t go wrong with a Duke into a Timmy great sounding overdrives!
Why hadn’t I discovered them earlier?!
Retro Reel is my favorite! So good.

@@AllAboutWorshipGuitar exactly!! Makes it sound like a true record!
Great tone! Thanks for inspiring
Thanks! I’m glad to be part of that journey of inspiration!
Very impressive! You've convinced me to buy a Pod Go! I had hesitations, but now I'm stuck! Blessings to you man!
Thanks! You won’t regret it! Packs so much punch. Be sure to watch my full setup video that will take you through important settings: ua-cam.com/video/REWE6X5iSWk/v-deo.html
Nice. Kitchen & dining space works. ;-) How do you like the effects in the Plethora 5, being familiar w/HX sounding effects?
I really like them! Very different vibe from the usual P&W flavour (cough *STRYMON* cough), which is still inspiring. Their delays and reverbs still sound great when mono-summed!
Love your new digs Justin!
I followed the instruction and configure Chocolate but the HX stomp won't do anything. I use the stereo 1/4 TRS to Midi cable though .. What do I miss ? is the Chocolate defective ?? Thank you any help/suggestion ..
Admittedly my setup is with the wireless receiver so I’m not sure about TRS midi. Have you tried this video? ua-cam.com/video/8exZinln9fw/v-deo.htmlsi=VOjNSkvrdEXA0C3S
Whats name song?
Leeland’s “Lion and the Lamb”!
@@AllAboutWorshipGuitar Thanks
Does jailbreaking void any warranties?
Nope it doesn’t. Technically you’re just modifying code from a preset, and not meddling with any hardware.
Hallo bro m from north east india. I do have HX stomp hand Volante. I want to used hx stomp as a midi cantroler for Volante can u please make a video how to connect and utilize thanks in advance.
Hi! I don't have a Volante, but I'm sure the application is still the same: make sure the transmitting device (HX Stomp) and the receiving device (Volante) are on the same channel, use the Strymon manual to figure out what CC changes which parameters, or PC changes which presets on the Volante. Is there a specific use case you'd like to see?
The delay is very distracting with the click track , but great video
Thanks for the feedback. In subsequent videos I’ve just included instrument tracks without the click. I’ve realised only MD’s appreciate the click haha.
What is it your worshipping.
Our Lord Jesus, whom I honour with the notes I play.
Beautiful ❤
The power of a great part!
I guess crazy is pretty subjective haha
Time to bust out the JS1200 for the crazier stuff!
They made a BLUE one!?
The Indonesian import range of the A2 had different colours, like blue and black!
Thanks for sharing what are some of the challenges guitarist faced when serving in the church worship ministry. For me is how to train beginner worship or song leader to sing and play in front of crowds confidently. They must learn to sing and play skillfully for the Lord and flow along with other musicians. The greatest challenge David did was rebuilding the tabernacle where he managed to established 4,000 musicians, 288 singers (12 x 24 = 288) and 4,000 gatekeepers. Today modern worship is based on David modal where we can enter into the presence of God anytime (24 hrs x 7 day).
Confidence is indeed something difficult to teach, it’s one of those things that are “caught rather than taught”. The band that served in church when I was became a Christian modeled what it meant to give God our best even with limited resources. Oh boy did they dance and jump before the Lord!
Have you ever seen a Latino Pentecostal service? We have a section of music called jubilo/jubilee and I think it’s a lot more different than what you might be used to
Oh my I would LOVE to see that. I was from a Pentecostal church for about 4 years and served weekly, with fond memories of high worship moments.
I love your videos mate and have used a few of your tips at church myself, it certain makes a difference when you play to serve the music rather than show off, it’s a fine line as guitarists we love to liven things up a bit lol
Thank you for the kind words, and oh yes that's a very strong tendency. I love to liven things up, it's in my blood as a guitarist!
I would definitely be interested in a lesson on harmonic instinct! I feel like it is the next step to learn in my musicianship.
The request has been upvoted! I'd love to put training content like that together, it would be the first for my channel!
Been Very hard been in the music ministry when my wife doesn’t have the same faith and belief as myself Any advice?
I know a drummer in a similar position and he tells me it’s a matter of being a good testimony to show his wife that his ministry is life-giving. Constant prayer and intercession, constant communication, but never pushing the Bible down her throat. His wife still isn’t a Christian but she doesn’t oppose his ministry, and that’s still a win. It’s a long journey!
Along with harmonic instinct I’d add an instinct for dynamics as the song needs it …when to build and when to not play
I could call it...melodic instinct 😎
Worship is about our sacrifice, our offering, our life that's given to God. We've made it about music, Made it about our entertainment, about the flow, the show...
Amen and amen. The concept of “flow” has been around for a long time though. For as long as we’ve had Sunday services, pastors and worship planners have been concerned about how best to structure our time around the word and table.
+1 for Harmonic Instinct! I spend TOO MUCH TIME trying to memorize parts. I wouldn't need as much note-by-note or chord-by-chord memorization in my mind if I could learn to feel the music with my ears
Upvote noted, thanks! To be fair, it took me a long time to train the instinct. I had a jumpstart from playing in wedding bands where I had to learn entire setlists in matter of two-three weeks. By the 60th song, I could recognise patterns.
Topic #3 - I started playing at 16 just on my own for fun, flash forward 40+ years later and I audition for my church's worship band. In the past 4 (or it is 5 now) years, my growth as a guitarist has skyrocket. Nothing like playing in a band and playing for the Lord. Nothing like getting a chart full of m7 M7 jazz chords and digging around UA-cam and learning about shell voicings before playing the song on Sunday and it's a Monday! So much of this video resonates with me. And you've challenged me on song memorization, learning chord patterns in songs and chord numbers system so I can switch keys if needed.
Jazz chords for Sunday service music, oh my! You must be in a pro church! My current church ministry would shudder at anything more than a m7. Funny story, I remember adding in a mM7 (minor major 7th) and my old keyboardist thought it was a typo on the chart, not realising it’s a legit chord.
Amazing idea! Would love harmonic instinct videos
Upvote noted! I’ll move that up my production pipeline.
deff agree about the humbling. its really hard to stand for two very quiet verses and a chorus without noodling lol
Electric guitarists just love to fill in those spaces! For me that tendency came from Blues jams with call-and-response.
Should i tune up or lower the a string because thats the only string i have that isnt tuned the proper way. I saw from tje internter 3 and a half steps down but i cannot see -70 in my guitar tuna app
Hi! I think you should tune down to D but that might be a little too low tension. If you have an extra low E string, use that in place of an A string. The tension is just right when tuned down to D.
Talent vs expecting modelers to do all the work. I think people have a false confidence that they buy a patch and it will do everything the song needs. Knowing how to tweak the patch, adjust to your taste and setup for a dynamic of the type of song is all…well not built in the patch. The player has to be able to sometimes restructure the sound on the fly.
That’s almost like putting on a producer’s hat to hear what sounds would work (critical listening to dissect tone) which is indeed something very important.
I’m 58 , love Gibson my whole life. Never heard of a high performance explorer ?? But I see it.
There was a strange era of Gibson in the 2010’s until 2019. HP Les Pauls and SG’s had cool features like coil tapping and in 2019 they also had the HP4 circuit (the ridiculous push pull/internal dip switch system). The HP Explorers were more conventional, sporting the same hardware choices as the HP LP’s and SG’s but sticking to a familiar two humbucking, no coil splitting pickup set.
I want to buy this rhett shull preset and cant't find it, do know where can i find it?
I got mine from Line 6 marketplace but he also hosts it on his website: www.rhettshull.com/collections/line-6-helix
Love it! Do you have any resources for the plethora? I just got an x3 and am planning on using it for my wet effects out of the hx stomp xl
Thank you! Ah, I don’t have resources other than I can share which TonePrints I use with each of the slots. Primarily I use the 2290 .1/8th on the Flashback, a 1/4 + .1/8th on the Vintage Delay, and “Room With A View” on the Hall of Fame.
@@AllAboutWorshipGuitar great, appreciate it!
@jmatthewcolburn Cheers! I haven’t had time to dive into the Tone Print software and tweak parameters under the hood, so I’ve just been loading Tone Prints and seeing if I vibe with them.
